Help Marissa Come Home

Marissa Faith

Moates Family

Fundraising Event

Dear Family and Friends -

I want to introduce ourselves to those of you who don't know our family. We are Molly and David Moates and we're in the process of adopting our second child who was abandoned at birth and found at the front gates of Ningdu Children's Welfare Institute in Ningdu County, Jiangxi Province in China. She is still there at the orphanage waiting for us to come for her.

Let me rewind a few months. Our family completed the adoption of our first child on May 27, 2007 and brought home our wonderful 6 year old son, Hong Nan Rui "Avery" from Nanchang, SWI in Jiangxi Province, China. God answered our prayers for this child, and He blessed our family tremendously with an amazing son. Avery was born with a club foot and had two surgeries while in China. Since we have been home, we have learned that Avery will more than likely require another surgery to correct his foot. At this time, Avery has a cast that starts at his toes and goes all the way up to his thigh, and he gets a new cast every Monday. We have an appointment in Baltimore, MD with the best Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist, Dr. Herzenberg who is known internationally for treating children with club foot. Avery never would have had the chance to get this high quality of care had we not adopted him and brought him home to the United States. Avery is an "Orphan No More" and he is one happy child with so much love to give. Our wish is to help make all of Avery's dreams come true!

The first day we met Avery, he told our travel guide that he had an older foster brother, and stated that he wanted to be a "Big Brother" some day. We informed him that we had already planned on adopting a baby girl sometime in the future, and Avery was so excited to hear that he would have a little sister! Well, we have been given a second blessing from God (much sooner than we had planned) and her Chinese name is Ning Yuan Yuan, but we will be naming her Marissa Faith Yuan Moates. She was born August 1, 2006 and she also has special medical needs that need to be addressed. This is one reason why we need to bring Marissa home as soon as possible so we can provide her with the best of care here in the United States. We have already received pre-approval from China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) to be her parents, and it won't be long before we have her in our arms.

As we all know, International adoption is costly, and there are many wonderful families out there who do not pursue adoption because of this reason, thus leaving thousands of orphans in China without forever families. To date, we have paid $4,458.00 in adoption / agency fees for Marissa, however we still must raise $5,000.00 in order to send our dossier to China. Once CCAA receives our dossier, then we wait for travel approval, which can take anywhere from 60 - 120 days from the date our dossier is "Logged In" at CCAA.

Our family is determined to get our daughter, and we refuse to let money get in the way of bringing Marissa home. We trust that God will make certain we raise the funds needed in order to do so. We now have a "second wish" and it is to help make all of Marissa's dreams come true!

Our family is asking for a $10.00 contribution to help bring Marissa home. As I mentioned above, we need to raise $5,000.00 so we can send our dossier to CCAA. The rest of the fees are not due until we travel to China. If we can reach at least 500 friends and family who are willing to give $10.00, then that will bring us half way to our target goal. If you feel you would like to make a larger contribution, then our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. Whatever amount you are comfortable donating will be greatly appreciated. Please forward this blog to as many people you know in order to help us bring Marissa home. Because of your help, Marissa will be an "Orphan No More."

Please Note:

When you click on "ChipIn" at the bottom of the blog, the paypal page will show Rockin M Ranch. Our paypal account is setup under our ranch name, so don't be alarmed. Also, the "ChipIn" website is a verified secure site.

We have one more special request. Please pray for God's healing on Avery's foot, pray for Marissa to be healthy and safe as she waits, and pray for our adoption fundraising event to be successful so we can bring Marissa home.

With God's Blessings To You All

Thank You So Much

David, Molly, Avery and Marissa

The adoption agency (Madison Adoption Associates) went ahead and sent our dossier to China without our payment, and told us we can pay the fees when we get the funds!!! OUR DOSSIER WAS RECEIVED AT CCAA IN BEIJING TODAY!!!! This is wonderful news and will buy us some time for our family without making Marissa wait! Hallelujah
